Reflections on Our Learning (Mar. 15, 2024)

How I have been enjoying this class and what I have learned!

Overall, as we have reached the middle of the semester, I have grown to learn so much more about the many topics pertaining to the African diaspora. I have also learned many new things that have allowed for me to broaden my perspective when it comes to influence that Africa has on so many parts of the world. As an African American, I really enjoyed learning more about the history of my culture. I never really understood the impact and deep importance of Africa and its influences. For me, my favorite topic so far that we have been able to discuss and learn about this semester would be about how Africa has such a huge influence on the Brazilian culture. African music and its dances itself, has influence those in Brazil to be able to create a unique style of music of their own. There are also many blacks from all over who have migrated to Brazil, which has allowed for them to become a very much diverse nation. I am very interested in what we are to learn more of next as we continue to go further alone this semester.
