Class Reflection
As we begin to conclude this class for the semester, I would like to say that I have genuinely learned a lot from the many different topics that we have covered since we first started in January. My perspective on the African diaspora has widely broadened. The topic that we have discussed prior that has intrigued me the most was "Haiti: A Side the Media Won't Show You." This topic was one of my favorite topics because I was once a person who thought that Haiti was just a 'poor and poverty' country. I never thought of Haiti to have such a beautiful side to them. It is a topic that has truly changed my perspective on the country and its people as well. I have learned so much about my African history and roots as well. Growing up, I've always known that I was an African American but I never really knew the depth and the history of my African history and culture. I have grown to become very passionate about learning more about where I come from and diving deeper into the history of my African roots and ancestry. I would love to know more of my culture and how it has impacted the world in ways that I have yet to learn about. One thing that I have acquired from this class that I can definitely use for my future classes is my writing skills. I have learned how to communicate my opinions and thoughts in a way where it can more efficiently get my point across for others to understand. I really enjoyed taking this class and well as going through the many different topics and discussions that we have gone through.
